Temperament

  • Lili is my first dog and first Eurasier. It’s been a long learning process for me as a dog owner and handler and Lili was pretty much the perfect dog for it.

    She is a very sticky dog - the vast majority of the time she prefers to be in the same room as me. She loves getting pet and giving licks in return, but she doesn’t enjoy being crowded - if she’s not in the mood for pets, she’ll probably just get up and move a little bit away.

  • With neutral or friendly dogs she usually shows indifference, though she does express an interest in other Spitz breeds and will occasionally try to elicit a little bit of play from them. She will sometimes briefly greet dogs she knows, but usually doesn’t have much interest in interacting.

    She does not generally enjoy reactive dogs - if she is barked at, she will bark back, though she can be redirected fairly easily as long as she can maintain a little bit of distance from them.

    When playing with dogs she knows, she enjoys a mixture of chase and wrestling. If a dog is being too much for her, she will give them a fair correction to ask them to back off.

  • With neutral or friendly strangers, Lili will accepts some petting (especially some nice scratches right above her tail) and always cookies. She tolerates older and respectful children well, but prefers space from loud and disruptive children.

    With potentially suspicious individuals, Lili displays some degree of wariness and will bark and briefly posture, but will dismiss and disengage when asked.

  • Lili is a very chill house companion - I would consider her to be a low-medium energy level dog. She is a great WFH office manager; the vast majority of the time while I am working, she is snoozing away nearby. She is very respectful of boundaries – we regularly have bags of treats and food lying within reach of the dogs and she will not pull things off counters or rip into stuff that she hasn’t been given permission to do so.

  • Lili loves a good adventure. She thoroughly enjoys exploring new places, whether it’s an urban spot like a farmer’s market or more nature-y like the woods. She make for a great traveler - easy to bring wherever and can settle in new places without any issue.

  • Lili loves doing things with her people, whether it’s at home or outside. She especially enjoys a good adventure. She loves using her nose both casually and in a directed manner, so we make sure give her plenty of time to check out new surroundings and we play nosework with her competitively as another form of enrichment. She’s always up for trying new things as long as there’s some degree of movement/activity and plenty of cookies involved. Activities like agility where she gets to use her body and engage with me are particularly fun for her.

    Lili enjoys training and is fairly easy to train as long as there are free-flowing cookies - she can pick up new skills pretty quickly and is always up to do more (at least, until she gets tired).
